En Vivo Band

Date: June 10

More than 17 years ago, a group of well-talented musicians formed a band that is known today as EN VIVO, a Latin Style band comprised of six well-talented and seasoned musicians. They originally formed as “Amigos” and maintained that name for many years. However, in 2009, after having to share the name Amigos with other known bands, they made a decision to change their name to “EN VIVO”, which captures the essence of their energetic and lively sound. EN VIVO is known for their smooth yet rich quality of sound and energy with their original songs as well as their own arranged favorite cover-tunes. As En Vivo performs, they keep their crowd dancing and moving while also having the ability to touch their hearts with the soul and words of their original music.

Tamsen Donner Band

Date: July 22
Sponsored by: Grocery Outlet

The Tamsen Donner Band, or TDB, was formed in 1996 and is made up of four Bay Area natives. Clockwise from the upper left it's J.D. Dills (guitar), Dave Rogers (drums), Chris Rogers (guitar) and Jim Vermeys (bass). These players came together based on a common love for the music of Albert King, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Jimmy Witherspoon, Robert Johnson, Charles Brown, and many more. Formerly the Tamsen Donner Memorial Blues Band, the current moniker was born out of the musical growth of TDB, busting out beyond the blues category with original songs that are difficult to categorize. While the blues is still a huge part of the band's live show, the originals have really started to define the sound of TDB. Whether it's a rollicking shuffle, a funky dance tune, a bluesy ballad, or a rocking instrumental, the energy is high, the sound is pure, and the passion is sincere. Tamsen Donner Band has recorded two CD's: "Tamsen Donner Blues Band" from 2001, and a live show released in 2005 called "Tuolumne Blues." The TDB song list numbers over 150, both original and covers. We hope to play for you soon!

Lumberyard

Date: September 2

LUMBERYARD was inspired by the great San Francisco cover band "Curveball" although we don't do a lot of funk or have 12 horns and three back up singers. We do have a rotating cast of musicians though with one constant, the inimitable Dan DeShara. (He owns the PA and lights, so natch!) The name came courtesy of Jeff Slingerland as we were trying to think of rarely used words that everybody already knows. The word LUMBERYARD seemed to be earthy yet not dirty, obtuse yet still intelligent, appealing without being repulsive and lastly; visually stimulating. Men think of building workshops and women think of knotty pine. Somehow it works...

The music itself flows from the "great fountain of musical gestation" era, imho, 1965-1975. Here can be found many of the musical building blocks/primordial stew, if you will, of the pop/rock/blues/funk/spoken word disco/temporal formats that constitute our song list. It harkens back to the day when an orange haired person wearing a powder blue leisure suit on trumpet could "jam" (to improvise over a designated chord structure or sometimes just one chord) with a leather clad 18th Century Dandy on swizzle stick not to mention the platform shoe wearing bassist in a neon nurse's uniform. Difficult to imagine in this uptight modern day world!
